AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Tuesday inspected several sites in Ain Al Basha, Al Baqa’a, Safout and Umm Al Dananir areas in Balqa Governorate, as part of his regular field inspection visits.
The prime minister began his tour with a visit to Safout Health Centre, where, in the presence of the minister of health, he listened to remarks from service users and staff regarding the centre, which was established in 1988 in a rented building and serves nearly 15,000 residents of neighbouring villages, according to a Prime Ministry statement.
Hassan directed that immediate and comprehensive maintenance works be launched at the centre and that it be provided with essential needs to ensure continuity of services to citizens until an alternative building is secured.
During his visit to the Vocational Training Institute in Ain Al Basha District, the prime minister, accompanied by the minister of labour, reviewed the specialised vocational and technical training programmes offered by the institute.
He commended the quality of these programmes, stressing the need to continue developing and sustaining them to equip male and female graduates with the skills required by the labour market and enable them to establish productive projects.
He also emphasised the importance of focusing training on professions and technical skills demanded by the labour market, as well as equipping trainees with the competencies needed during the implementation stages of major national projects.
The Ain Al Basha Vocational Training Institute is the largest institute of the Vocational Training Corporation, with more than 1,000 male and female trainees enrolled in a wide range of vocational and technical specialisations.
It includes 24 training workshops and a language laboratory focusing on languages required by the labour market. In addition to training, the institute issues professional practice certificates and carries out productive activities serving the local community, the statement read.
The prime minister also inspected Umm Al Dananir Secondary School for Boys in Ain Al Basha District, where, in the presence of the Minister of Education, he listened to remarks from students and teachers regarding the school, which was established in 1961 and has more than 1,000 students.
The school is in urgent need of a new building to accommodate student numbers and eliminate the double-shift system, the statement read.
He directed that an additional new building be constructed for the school by including it among the schools to be built under the Corporate Social Responsibility Project, launched in partnership with the private sector.
The new building will include 24 classrooms, sufficient to accommodate the school’s students, in addition to laboratories and playgrounds with all necessary facilities, and is scheduled for completion in 2027.
He also instructed that comprehensive maintenance be carried out on the school’s current building, which contains 16 classrooms, to ensure continuity of the educational process until completion of the new facility.
During his visit to Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II Hospital in Ain Al Basha District, the Prime Minister, accompanied by the minister of health, inspected a number of departments and facilities and listened to remarks from patients and medical and nursing staff.
He directed the acceleration of the expansion of the kidney unit, its inclusion within digital health centre services, and the reinforcement of outpatient clinics with specialised medical disciplines.
The hospital was established in 2010, serves approximately 200,000 residents, has 114 beds, and operates at an average occupancy rate of around 50 per cent.
The prime minister also inspected Al Baqa’a Park, directing that it be upgraded, its playgrounds, facilities and open areas rehabilitated, and that a new five-a-side football pitch be constructed.
He also instructed that the park be equipped with necessary services to serve as a recreational outlet for families, children and local residents.
