AMMAN — HRH Princess Dina Mired on Monday visited Jordan University Hospital to review the condition of children from the Gaza Strip receiving treatment as part of the Royal Initiative to evacuate and care for 2,000 sick and injured children from the enclave.
Princess Dina received a detailed briefing from the medical team on the children’s health, particularly those suffering from congenital heart conditions, according to a hospital statement.
She also observed the level of medical and nursing care provided, expressing appreciation for the staff’s professionalism, dedication, and efforts to deliver the highest standard of care while alleviating the suffering of children and their families.
The Princess said that the Royal Initiative reflects His Majesty King Abdullah’s solicitude for the Palestinian people, providing them with critical medical care and standing in solidarity with Gaza’s residents, adding that the initiative demonstrates Jordan’s commitment to offering specialised medical services to children in greatest need.
Acting Director-General of Jordan University Hospital Sami Abu Halawa said the hospital continues its humanitarian and medical mission by providing advanced healthcare through specialised campaigns across various disciplines.
He noted that all medical and technical resources are mobilised in coordination with national institutions, organisations, and charitable bodies to ensure the highest standards of treatment and follow-up until the children complete their care and safely return to Gaza.
Currently, 11 children are receiving treatment at the hospital under the Jordanian Medical Corridor initiative. Their ages range from eight months to two years, and they suffer from complex heart diseases and congenital defects.
Three specialised surgeries are scheduled for early next year, after which their safe return to Gaza will be coordinated, with continued follow-up care guaranteed, the statement read.
