AMMAN — Jordan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations on Wednesday called for an immediate end to Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Obaidat welcomed the US plan aimed at ending the war in Gaza, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, rebuilding the enclave, and preventing the annexation of the West Bank.
He also stressed the UN’s responsibility to uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, Al Mamlaka TV reported.
The plan, unveiled by US President Donald Trump on Monday, September 29, comprises 20 points and still requires approval from all concerned parties. It also includes a proposal for Trump to head a committee overseeing Gaza’s transitional phase.
International reactions to the plan have continued, highlighting the need for consensus among all stakeholders. A senior Palestinian official said Hamas began reviewing the proposal on Tuesday with its leadership and other Palestinian factions, noting that discussions could take several days.
