In a statement on Sunday, the ministry hailed the San Marino’s recognition of Palestinian state, saying it aligns with the international consensus on the two-state solution as the only formula to ending the long-running Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

San Marino has joined France, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Andorra and Belgium which have formally recognised a Palestinian state at the 80th session of the General Assembly.

Ministry Spokesperson Fouad Majali commended San Marino’s decision which, he said, is consistent with international efforts to safeguard the legitimate and just rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is the establishment of their independent, sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Majali reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to continue working with Arab and international partners to support the Palestinian people’s rights to freedom, ending the occupation, and establishing their independent state on their national soil.
