The Jordan Times

AMMAN — Police on Thursday were searching for three men who allegedly robbed a bank at gunpoint in Mafraq Governorate earlier in the day, official sources said.

Two of the three hooded suspects reportedly entered the bank early in the morning and stole JD15,000 in cash, Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.

“The suspect fled the scene with a getaway car driven by the third suspect,” Sartawi told The Jordan Times.

Video clips circulated on social media showed two hooded men reportedly inside what they said was the branch and waving a weapon, while carrying a bag.

Three customers who were standing at the counter were seen running away when they saw the hooded men storming the bank.

One of the suspects, who was holding a dark bag in his hand, is reportedly seen jumping over the counter, then jumping back towards the door with a dark bag in his hand.

Sartawi said that investigations are ongoing and that “more information will be provided to the public at a later stage”.
