Jordan’s Ministry of Higher Education has announced that a record-breaking public auction has generated 4.76 million dinars ($6.7 million) in revenue, which will be used to support Jordanian students.
The funds are expected to benefit an additional 3,500 university students through the ministry’s grant and loan programs this academic year.
This is in addition to the fund's original budget, which the government had already increased by 50% this year, bringing the total allocation to 30 million dinars ($42.3 million).
Earlier today, the Drivers and Vehicle Licensing Department, with a directive from Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, held a public auction for license plates with special numbers.
The plate "1-7" received the highest bid, selling for 1.575 million dinars ($2.2 million).
