Jordan’s strength: Unity behind the Hashemite leadership - By Hasan Dajah, The Jordan Times

Amidst the major transformations sweeping the region, Jordan stands out as a nation that has managed, over many decades, to maintain its balance and stability despite successive regional storms. This is largely due to the national cohesion that unites the Jordanian people around their Hashemite leadership. The popular support for His Majesty King Abdullah forms the cornerstone of the state's strength and its ability to protect its security and stability. Jordanians understand that preserving Jordan's security and stability is a collective responsibility, and that the state's strength stems not only from its institutions and military and security capabilities, but also from the unity of its people and their trust in their leadership.

Experience has proven that Jordan, despite its limited resources and the surrounding challenges, has been able to withstand complex regional crises thanks to this cohesion between the leadership and the people. The Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army – and the various security agencies stand as an impenetrable barrier protecting the Kingdom's borders by land, sea, and air, based on a firm doctrine of defending the homeland and preserving its security and sovereignty. In turn, the Jordanian people stand in support of these efforts, recognizing that Jordan's security and stability are a red line that cannot be crossed.

Jordan's true strength lies in its internal unity and the mutual trust between the leadership and the people. The Hashemite leadership, which derives its historical legitimacy from its role in serving the nation's causes and defending its interests, has always been keen to consolidate the concept of a state based on moderation, wisdom, and openness. His Majesty King Abdullah II has continued this approach through a balanced policy that combines preserving Jordan's national interests with active participation in regional and international efforts to promote stability.

Amidst the escalating tensions in the region, Jordan continues to play a pivotal diplomatic role, striving to de-escalate tensions and prevent the region from sliding into wider conflicts. Jordanian diplomacy, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, is constantly engaged in international and regional meetings and communications to convey the voice of reason and advocate for dialogue and political solutions, rather than military confrontations that only bring further destruction and instability. This role is based on a clear vision that regional security cannot be achieved by force alone, but rather by addressing the root causes of the conflict that continue to fuel recurring tensions.

At the heart of this Jordanian vision lies the Palestinian issue, considered the core of the conflict in the Middle East. Jordan believes that disregarding the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and attempting to circumvent or marginalize them is the primary reason for the continued instability in the region. From this perspective, Jordan continues to emphasize in various international forums the necessity of reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue that guarantees the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Jordan's position in this context is not merely a political stance, but rather an extension of deeply rooted principles in Jordanian policy based on the defense of right and justice. Jordan, by virtue of its geographical location and its historical and political ties to the Palestinian cause, fully understands that any attempt to circumvent this right will only deepen the crises and open the door to new waves of tension and violence. Therefore, Jordan continues to advocate for the two-state solution as the only realistic path to achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.

The past years have proven that the absence of a genuine political horizon for resolving the Palestinian issue invariably leads to an explosion of violence in the region. Whenever Palestinian rights are ignored or attempts are made to impose unilateral solutions, tensions escalate and crises worsen. Hence, Jordan affirms that regional stability cannot be achieved without a just solution to the Palestinian issue, and that the two-state solution is the true key to ending the conflict and opening a new chapter of peace and development in the Middle East.

In this context, His Majesty King Abdullah II continues his intensive diplomatic efforts on the international stage to garner support for this solution and keep the Palestinian issue at the forefront of international attention. Jordan has often succeeded in playing the role of a rational mediator, striving to bridge differences and prevent escalation, leveraging its balanced relations with various regional and international parties. Today, Jordan stands firm in the face of challenges, drawing strength from a long legacy of political wisdom and moderation, and from a conscious people who understand the importance of preserving national unity. The Jordanian people's support for their Hashemite leadership constitutes the true safeguard of the state, empowering it to confront crises with confidence and steadfastness. In a world witnessing rapid transformations and escalating conflicts, Jordan remains a model of a state that has successfully combined strong leadership with social cohesion, affirming that true stability begins from within and is reinforced by the unity of the people and their trust in their leadership.

Therefore, Jordan's message to the world remains clear and unwavering: there can be no genuine security in the Middle East without justice, and no lasting stability can be built without recognizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and establishing their independent and sovereign state on their national soil. Ignoring or attempting to circumvent these rights will only deepen crises and perpetuate the cycle of tension in the region. Jordan, under its Hashemite leadership and with its people, will remain committed to its historical role in defending these principles and working diplomatically and politically to establish a just peace and enhance regional stability.
