AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Wednesday participated in the opening session of the Munich Leaders Meeting, convened under the theme “Seeking Common Ground: The Middle East in a Multipolar World.”
The session brought together key regional and international figures, including Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, and French President’s Special Envoy to Lebanon Jean-Yves Le Drian, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
On the sidelines, Safadi held talks with several counterparts and officials, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and intensifying efforts to halt the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
Safadi underscored the urgent need to consolidate international and regional efforts to stop the Israeli assault, end the famine it has caused, and launch a serious initiative to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, in line with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Safadi also reiterated appreciation for the sincere efforts of US President Donald Trump to end the war, underscoring the importance of partnership with the US in advancing peace in the region.
He also welcomed Trump’s proposal to end the war, reconstruct Gaza, prevent the displacement of the Palestinian people and promote comprehensive peace, in addition to his declaration that he would not allow the annexation of the West Bank.
During the meeting, Safadi met with Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, Lebanese Defence Minister Maj. Gen. Michel Mansi, German Minister of State for Economic Cooperation and Development Niels Annen and German Minister of State for Defence Nils Hilmer.
He also held talks with French President’s Special Envoy to Lebanon Jean-Yves Le Drian, NATO Secretary-General’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood Javier Colomina, First Vice Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs Hana Jalloul, and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Mora Namdar.
