KHCF, AECID sign agreement to support breast cancer programme

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Centre (KHCC), on Tuesday signed a cooperation agreement with Spanish Secretary of State for International Cooperation Eva Granados Galiano, representing the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

The agreement aims to support the Jordan Breast Cancer Programme (JBCP) and national programmes for the early detection and prevention of breast and cervical cancer, while boosting community engagement and improving access to healthcare services, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The new grant will be directed towards a national project to be implemented by JBCP in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Ajloun, Tafileh and Aqaba.

The project is expected to directly benefit more than 25,000 women through awareness-raising activities, training and early detection services, in addition to reaching over two million indirect beneficiaries through nationwide awareness campaigns.

The agreement builds on a strategic partnership between the KHCF and AECID that began in 2021. Since then, joint efforts have directly reached 130,042 beneficiaries through awareness, training and early detection support across several governorates, while more than 4.09 million people have benefited indirectly through national awareness initiatives.

The signing ceremony was attended by Spanish Ambassador to Jordan Miguel de Lucas González, along with representatives from Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and AECID.
