AMMAN — The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), in cooperation with Royal Jordanian (RJ), has launched on Saturday an extensive promotional tour in Riyadh to highlight regional tourism and investment opportunities.

 

The initiative activates the strategic cooperation agreement signed between both parties, introducing direct and regular international flights connecting Aqaba and Riyadh to strengthen air connectivity and boost tourist inflows.

 

The move aims to establish Aqaba as a premier regional hub for leisure, trade, and business, according to a statement by ASEZA.

ASEZA Commissioner for Tourism and Youth, Thabit Nabulsi, stated that launching this direct route represents a new phase in developing the air transport ecosystem at King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba.

 

Nabulsi noted that the strategic partnership with the national carrier targets new, sustainable tourism markets to align with ASEZA's economic vision and meet the expectations of Saudi visitors.

 

Royal Jordanian Chief Commercial Officer, Karim Makhlouf, announced that the airline will operate twice-weekly direct between Aqaba and Riyadh through King Hussein International Airport.

Makhlouf confirmed that the inaugural flight on this new route is scheduled to launch officially on September 17.

 

The promotional tour in Saudi Arabia serves to familiarise travel agencies, investors and media partners with Aqaba’s competitive tourism offerings, coastal attractions and business climate.

 

By facilitating direct air travel between Saudi Arabia and southern Jordan, the new connection is expected to increase tourist arrivals, support local commercial activities, and build stronger economic ties between the two countries.
