AMMAN — The Ministry of Water and Irrigation on Wednesday detected four illegal connections on a main water pipeline in southern Amman.

 

The operation was carried out by the Water Authority of Jordan’s Internal Control Unit and the Jordan Water Company (Miyahuna), in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Public Security Directorate (PSD) through the Muwaqqar Badia Police Station.

 

The campaign in Al Muwaqqar and Shoumariyah uncovered four illegal connections on a 300mm main carrier line, including three 1-inch lines and one 2-inch line, used to divert water to unlicensed tankers.

 

Technical teams disconnected the illegal connections, restored the pipeline and issued official violation notices. The ministry reiterated its commitment to protecting the Kingdom’s water resources in accordance with the law and commended public cooperation, as well as the support of the Ministry of Interior, the PSD and the Judicial Council.
