AMMAN — Director General of the Civil Status and Passports Department (CSPD) Ghaith Ghazi Tayeb said the digital certificates service launched by the department has seen strong uptake from citizens inside and outside the Kingdom, with around 381,000 digital certificates issued since its launch last May via the “Sanad” application.

Tayeb made the remarks during an inspection visit to the Civil Status and Passports offices in Ashrafieh and Hay Nazzal, as part of a field tour aimed at following up on workflow and assessing service delivery to citizens.

He explained that the service enables citizens to issue previously registered vital event certificates, including birth, marriage, divorce, death, individual registration and family registration certificates. The certificates are issued electronically in PDF format in both Arabic and English, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Tayeb noted that the launch of the service comes within the framework of enhancing digital transformation and facilitating access to services for citizens inside and outside the Kingdom.

He added that digital certificates are now available from anywhere and around the clock, including Fridays and official holidays, without being restricted to official working hours. This, he said, helps ease pressure on Jordanian embassies abroad and reduce congestion at CSPD offices.

He added that the digital certificates do not incur any additional fees and are officially recognised by all public and private entities, describing the service as an advanced step within the government’s strategy to improve service quality and enhance institutional performance.

Tayeb also pointed out that the Ashrafieh and Hay Nazzal offices processed a total of around 150,000 documents last year, reflecting the scale of work and the efficiency of staff in providing services to citizens.
