Stargate aims to construct the physical and virtual infrastructure necessary to support the next wave of AI technology. This includes a nationwide network of data centers, with the first major project—a 1 million-square-foot data center in Texas—already under construction, according to Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison as reported by CNN.

The initiative comes in response to warnings from AI industry leaders that the sector needs a substantial increase in data centers, as well as resources like advanced chips, electricity, and water, to keep pace with the growing demand for AI capabilities.
