Israeli Occupation airstrikes targeted senior Hezbollah leader Hashem Safieddine in Dahieh, southern Beirut, Thursday night.

 

Safieddine, Deputy Secretary-General of Hezbollah and widely considered the most likely successor to Hassan Nasrallah, was reportedly the primary target of the attack, according to "Israeli" Channel 14 and the US news outlet Axios, which cited sources in Tel Aviv.

 

While the outcome of the attack remains unclear, sources have indicated that Safieddine was believed to be sheltering in a deep underground bunker.

 

Israeli Occupation airstrikes hit the Burj Al-Barajneh area on Thursday evening, with four buildings along Hadi Nasrallah Highway being targeted.

 

A Roya correspondent confirmed the strikes, which also extended to the towns of Al-Khiam and Kafr Kila, amid continued artillery shelling of the Marjayoun plain.

 

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) issued evacuation orders to residents of two buildings in the Burj Al-Barajneh refugee camp, urging them to leave immediately. Shortly after, heavy airstrikes intensified across Dahieh, marking what witnesses described as unprecedented levels of violence in the area.

 

According to Reuters, citing security sources, Thursday's strikes on Beirut were larger in scale than a previous operation that reportedly killed Hassan Nasrallah.

 

Officials have yet to confirm whether Safieddine was killed in the attack.
