King expresses condolences to Sultan Haitham of Oman over passing of Qaboos

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah has sent a cable to Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Bin Taimour Al Said of Oman, expressing condolences over the passing of Sultan Qaboos Bin Said.
 
In the cable, King Abdullah paid tribute to the honourable positions of Sultan Qaboos, who dedicated his life to serving Oman and Arab and Islamic causes, in addition to supporting Jordan under all circumstances, according to a Royal Court statement.
 
His Majesty also expressed sympathies to the people of Oman, on behalf of the people and government of Jordan.
 
The Royal Hashemite Court issued a statement on Saturday, mourning the passing of Sultan Qaboos Bin Said of Oman.
 
At His Majesty's orders, the Royal Hashemite Court has announced three days of mourning over Sultan Qaboos’ passing, as of Saturday.
 
In a tweet on Saturday, His Majesty said: "We have lost a wise leader in my brother His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said of Oman, a dear friend of my father the late King Hussein and supporter of Jordan in defending Arab and Islamic causes. May God rest his soul in peace and grant the people of Oman patience and fortitude."
 
Also on Saturday, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz announced that the Jordanian flag would fly at half mast for three days in mourning of Sultan Qaboos, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
 
Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh expressed the deepest condolences over Sultan Qaboos' death to Omani Shura council, commending the late sultan's efforts and describing him as a "wise" leader who called for Arab unity.
