AMMAN — The board of the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) in Jordan on Tuesday discussed ways to enhance economic ties and attract greater investment during a meeting with EU Ambassador to Jordan Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas.
The meeting focused on strengthening coordination and communication between the two sides in support of Jordanian and European businesses, while improving the Kingdom’s investment and business environment, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Discussions also covered trade facilitation, as well as preparations related to the European Green Deal and digital transformation, aimed at boosting Jordan’s readiness for deeper integration into European markets.
Chamber President Mohammad Smadi stressed the importance of deepening economic partnership with the European Union, one of Jordan’s key trade and investment partners.
He noted that Jordan’s exports to EU countries rose by 72.3 per cent during the first two months of 2026, reaching JD112 million, compared with JD65 million in the same period of 2025.
The chairman indicated the increase as a "positive indicator" of the growing competitiveness of Jordanian products and improved utilisation of existing trade agreements.
Smadi also highlighted the role of His Majesty King Abdullah in advancing trade and investment cooperation and expanding opportunities for Jordanian exports in European markets.
For his part, Chatzisavas described Jordan-EU relations as a "comprehensive strategic partnership" spanning multiple sectors, including health, education and culture.
He stressed the importance of strengthening economic and trade cooperation, particularly in strategic sectors such as water, energy and the digital economy, noting that an investment conference planned for later this year would provide a platform to explore new opportunities.
The ambassador also praised the chamber’s role in representing businesses linked to the European market and fostering dialogue between the public and private sectors, Petra reported.
