The Jordan Times

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh eulogised the late Sultan Qaboos Bin Said of Oman in the presence of Premier Omar Razzaz during a Lower House session on Sunday.
"With the departure of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said — may God have mercy on him — we lost a wise leader, who was a great champion of the Arab and Islamic peoples," Tarawneh said.
During the session, which convened to discuss the draft budget and government units laws for 2020, Tarawneh said that His Majesty King Abdullah paid tribute to the late leader, describing him as an elder brother and friend to the late King Hussein, adding that he was an ally of Jordan in defending Arab and Islamic issues with wisdom and balance, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Tarawneh added that the established principles laid down by Sultan Qaboos will remain a guiding path in the interests of Muslim and Arab peoples.
“We pray that God grant success to Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al Said to take Oman to glory, as Sultan Qaboos wanted, and that God preserve the Sultanate and its dear people,” Tarawneh said.
