The Iranian army released a statement following the overnight “Israeli” airstrikes, detailing the extent of damage suffered to its forces.
The statements said that the missiles, which it described as “significantly lighter warheads than Iranian ballistic missiles”, targeted targeted several border radar systems in the provinces of Ilam, Khuzestan, and near Tehran.
The damage was minimal thanks to the “timely air defense response”, with a limited impact on a few radar systems – per the statement.
“Some systems were immediately restored, while repairs on others are underway.”
“In this unlawful act, a significant number of missiles were tracked and intercepted by our air defenses, preventing enemy aircraft from entering Iranian airspace.”
Iran declared in the statement that it “reserves its right to a legitimate response at a suitable time and reiterates the need for a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon to prevent further loss of innocent lives.”
