AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez and French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness Franck Riester on Monday went over various issues of mutual concern.
Fayez said that Jordan is a state of institutions and law that believes in the freedom of speech and expression within the law, and “completely rejects offending prophets and messengers under any pretext”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He also called for dealing firmly and decisively with whoever seeks to incite religious or racial discord, urging France to have a “clear stance that rejects such actions against prophets and messengers”.
Riester highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation between Paris and Amman, adding that France is interested in boosting its relations with Arab and Islamic countries, mainly Jordan that has “distinguished” ties with France.
He also said that “France rejects offending prophets and messengers and respects Islam” that is the second religion in his country in terms of followers, Petra added.
