Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya delivered a televised address, marking his first public statement after the recent bombing attack in Ankara.
Speaking in front of the interior ministry building, which had been the target of the attackers, Yerlikaya provided insights into the events that unfolded during the attack.
"One of the terrorists, who already had a suicide bomb device, detonated himself, and the other was shot in the head and neutralized before he could detonate himself," Minister Yerlikaya stated.
In his address, Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the bravery and swift response of the Turkish police force. He stated, "Dear friends, as of 9:30 this morning, a vile and treacherous terrorist attack was attempted at the entrance of the General Directorate of Security of the Ministry of Interior. Thanks to the bravery, determination, and intuition of our heroic police, they [referring to the attackers] were encountered with weapons as soon as they got out of the vehicle."
Minister Yerlikaya also vowed that Turkey's strength and determination, combined with the unwavering support of its people, would prevail against terrorist organizations, criminal gangs, and drug dealers. He concluded by saying, "We ask you to have faith in us and bless us with your prayers."
