AMMAN — Deputising for HRH Crown Prince Hussein, Minister of Education and  Minister of Higher Education Walid Maani on Saturday attended the second annual Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) conference, titled “Towards a Fourth Industrial Revolution”.

Maani noted that Crown Prince Hussein believes in the creative abilities of Jordanian youth, which simply need more support, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The minister said that with the increasing demand on higher education and the growing number of the population, successive governments had to raise opportunities to join the higher education, highlighting, in this regard, the establishment of 10 public universities, 20 private universities and more than 40 community colleges.

HTU President Labib Khadra said that the conference’s motto embodies a long-term strategic goal, which is keeping pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Indian Chargé d’Affaires Anwar Halim referred to the agreement signed between the two countries, which chose HTU as the model to apply an agreement on student training.

During the inauguration ceremony, HTU and the Arab Potash Company signed a memorandum of understanding, under which the latter will present 60 scholarships for students who passed Tawjihi (General Secondary Education Certificate Examination), in addition to providing them with jobs at the company.

The conference included several sessions on the youth, the innovation environment, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, ICT and Internet of things.
