AMMAN — Complications and obstacles imposed by the occupation prevented the passage of 50 Jordanian trucks into the Gaza Strip, with only 26 trucks allowed through, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) Hussein Shibli said on Monday.
In an interview with Al Mamlaka, Shibli added that the total number of trucks that have entered Gaza to date has reached 8,561. He noted that the World Food Programme is responsible for delivering and distributing aid across various areas in the Strip.
Shibli acknowledged that the current aid distribution mechanism in Gaza “is not the ideal system we aspire to,” stressing that the JHCO aims to establish a clear database for aid delivery to all individuals, ensuring both comprehensive reach and the avoidance of duplication.
“Two fundamental principles of humanitarian work are inclusivity and accessibility, meaning aid should reach all those in need,” he said.
He also said that airdrops have played a significant role in delivering aid to the Strip, noting, however, that “airdrops have recently paused due to other ongoing arrangements.”
Shibli also highlighted that aid convoys face repeated attacks and obstacles from the occupation, including “attempts to delay their arrival through roadblocks, attacks on trucks by throwing stones, breaking windows, or attempts to disable vehicles by puncturing tires.”
He added that security, diplomatic, and military efforts are being pursued at full speed to ensure aid delivery, making the humanitarian corridor the main channel for sending assistance to the besieged Strip.
On Sunday, a convoy of 26 trucks carrying food supplies crossed into Gaza as part of ongoing Jordanian efforts to support its residents.
