AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, honourary chairperson of the Private Schools Cultural and Educational Council, on Saturday inaugurated the council's 28th Teachers Conference.

The two-day conference titled “Smart technology and a facilitating teacher” aims at discussing accelerated developments in science and technology, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During her opening speech, Princess Basma highlighted the role of education in encouraging awareness among students and preparing them for the future through modern skills and sciences.

The princess also reiterated the responsibility of teachers, who play a pivotal role in the educational process through guiding students in tapping into the immense technological developments in education in a way that suits students’ needs, aspirations and ambitions.

She also said that technology, despite its importance in all fields, will never be an alternative to “inspiring teachers”, who constitute the most important and prominent element in the educational process.

For his part, Hussein Tarawneh, head of the council, said that the fourth industrial revolution and its direct impact on the learning-teaching process requires teachers to receive training in successful education models and using technology in education.

The conference discusses schools that support excellence and innovation, stimulating the minds of learners, education for the future, integrated education and 21st-century education, merging e-education tools with teaching methods and developing teaching skills.
