MoH postpones appointments for second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine

Roya News

Friday, the head of the coronavirus portfolio Adel al-Belbeisi confirmed that the Ministry of Health (MoH) has decided to postpone all second dose appointments for those who received one dose of the Pfeizer-BioNTech vaccine. He added that there is no reason that goes against extending the time between the two doses to six weeks.

A number of citizens informed Roya that they received messages from the Ministry of Health (MoH) informing them that their appointments to receive the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine were postponed for four weeks.

Informed sources told Roya that the MoH is likely to issue a statement explaining the situation and the reason behind rescheduling vaccination appointments.

Two weeks ago, the ministry made a similar decision and announced that it will be rescheduling the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, for citizens and residents who received one dose, to be at least 11 weeks after the first dose.

Notably, Bilbeisi said the ministry does not have any studies proving that a third dose of the coronavirus vaccine is necessary.

According to the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, a total of 307,522 people received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine and 115,129 people received both doses, up until Thursday evening.

Additionally, a total of 963,076 people registered for vaccination in Jordan, up until April 1.
