No Winter Time this year in Jordan; government confirms keeping daylight-saving time
Roya News
As winter nears closer, the government has settled the debate on the issue of time change, confirming that the current daylight saving time (DST) will remain in effect through the coming winter.
Mohammed Al-Momani, the Minister of Government Communication and official government spokesman, asserted that the decision to maintain DST year-round will stand without any change this winter.
"There will be no change regarding daylight and standard time," he stated.
Fixed Time Policy and Practical Rationale
The issue of daylight and standard time (winter time) has been a subject of long-standing discussion in Jordan before the government settled on maintaining DST (UTC+3) throughout the year.
Al-Momani justified the decision by citing international practices and practical considerations. He explained that "many countries do not change their timing between summer and winter" to maximize the use of daylight hours.
This global trend aims to achieve stability in work schedules and economic and social activities, reduce the disruption caused by changing the clock twice a year, and maximize the use of natural daylight, potentially contributing to energy savings and improved productivity.
