Al Quds College, a member of Luminus Group, inaugurated Monday the First Entrepreneurial Festival which is part of the college’s efforts to promote “education for employment” as a strategic direction in vocational education. The event featured over 20 success stories of students undertaking entrepreneurship courses at Al Quds College, some of whom went on to develop their own projects at the college’s business incubator. Stephanie Williams, US deputy chief of mission to Jordan, attended the inauguration and said: "We recognise the importance of entrepreneurs in society, and commend Al Quds’s College for its support and encouragement of young entrepreneurs.” Ibrahim Al Safadi, chief executive officer of Luminus Group, said: “With the support of USAID, we were the first college to establish a business incubator on campus, in partnership with the Washtenaw Community College, to support our students in establishing their own businesses as well as simulate hands-on scenarios and challenges related to work and life skills.” The USAID-funded initiative, “Economic Empowerment through Entrepreneurship” is a joint project between Al Quds College, the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges District (EICCD), and the Washtenaw Community College. Working with EICCD, the college has developed special entrepreneurship modules designed to integrate work readiness skills in vocational curricula.
