AMMAN — As part of the AECID Project “Improve the Living Conditions of Palestine Refugees in Jordan”, UNRWA, in partnership with the Municipality of Barcelona, organised a two-day technical training workshop focused on Early Detection and Early Intervention for children with developmental delays.

The training includes enhancing the accessibility of UNRWA’s infrastructures and promoting inclusive education for Palestine Refugees in Jordan, according to an UNRWA statement.

A team of five Spanish experts travelled to Amman to deliver the training to UNRWA Jordan medical staff, including medical officers and nurses, sharing international exposure, practices, and innovative approaches to early intervention.

The workshop covered key topics such as infant brain development, protective factors and resilience, and psychomotor development, including practical sessions on infant massage, early warning signs, and therapeutic games by developmental age.

This collaboration between UNRWA and the Barcelona City Council demonstrates the “strength” of international cooperation in improving the quality of services for children with disabilities.

By building the capacity of frontline medical professionals, this initiative reinforces UNRWA’s commitment to promoting inclusive and early access to care for all Palestine Refugees children in Jordan.
