98 COVID deaths, 4,399 virus cases recorded on Saturday

AMMAN — Ninety-eight COVID-19 deaths and 4,399 virus cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Saturday, increasing the caseload to 582,133, the government announced.
 
The new fatalities took the Kingdom’s coronavirus death toll to 6,472 according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.
 
The share of tests returning a positive result, known as positive rate, stood at nearly 15.74 per cent, compared with 15.78 per cent reported on Friday.
 
A total of 27,950 virus tests were also conducted on Saturday, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the outbreak of the pandemic to 5,733,071, according to the statement.
 
The statement added that 8,053 recoveries were registered in hospitals and home quarantine on Saturday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 476,090.
 
The statement added that there are currently 99,571 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.
 
A total of 381 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals on Saturday, taking the number of patients currently receiving care for COVID-19 in hospitals to 3,455, the statement said, adding that 209 recovered patients left hospitals.
 
On hospital capacities, the statement revealed that in the northern region the occupancy rate of isolation beds occupied by COVID-19 patients reached 51 per cent, ICU beds reached 73 per cent, while occupancy rate of ventilators stood at 38 per cent.
 
In the central region, isolation bed occupancy rate reached 73 per cent, 82 per cent ICUs and 44 per cent for ventilators.
 
The statement added that the southern region registered an isolation beds occupancy rate of 33 per cent, 43 per cent for ICUs and 24 per cent for ventilators.
 
The cases comprised 1,980 infections in Amman, 851 in Irbid, including 14 in Ramtha District, 305 in Balqa, 210 in Zarqa, 114 in Madaba, 94 in Aqaba, 284 in Mafraq, 144 in Jerash, 79 in Ajloun, 152 in Karak, 133 in Tafileh and 53 in Maan, including 12 cases in Petra District.
