AMMAN — Over the past two days, foreign ministers from 12 Arab and regional countries held intensive discussions on the ongoing situation in Syria, reaffirming their unified stance in support of Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and stability.

In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, the ministers from Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, and Syria expressed their backing for the Syrian government’s efforts to rebuild the war-torn country on the basis of security, national unity, and the protection of citizens’ rights.

The ministers welcomed the recent agreement to end the crisis in Syria’s southern Suwayda Governorate, emphasizing the importance of its implementation to safeguard civilians, uphold the rule of law, and preserve Syria’s territorial integrity.

They also praised Syrian President Ahmad Al Shara’s commitment to holding accountable those responsible for violations against civilians in Suwayda. The statement underscored the need to reject violence, sectarianism, and incitement, while supporting efforts to restore full state authority across all Syrian territory.

The ministers strongly condemned repeated Israeli airstrikes on Syria, describing them as “flagrant violations of international law” and a direct threat to Syria’s sovereignty and regional stability. They warned that such actions undermine Syria’s recovery efforts and the aspirations of the Syrian people.

“Syria’s security and stability are essential pillars of regional peace and a shared priority,” the statement said.

The group called on the international community to provide support for Syria’s reconstruction, and urged the United Nations Security Council to take legal and moral responsibility by ensuring Israel’s full withdrawal from occupied Syrian land and the cessation of all hostile actions. The statement also demanded the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2766 and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
