China committed to expanding strategic partnership with Jordan — ambassador

AMMAN — China is ready to deepen and expand its strategic partnership with Jordan across key sectors, Chinese Ambassador to Amman Guo Wei said on Sunday, underscoring the alignment between the two countries’ development goals.

Speaking at a press conference marking the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Guo said Beijing is keen to “align development strategies, expand trade and investment, advance Belt and Road projects, and strengthen cooperation in energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and water sectors.”

He reaffirmed China’s commitment to advancing cooperation with Jordan in trade, energy, digital economy, education, and tourism, aiming to elevate bilateral ties “to new heights.”

Guo praised Jordan’s historical role in promoting peace in the Middle East, particularly its efforts towards a just solution to the Palestinian cause. He stressed that respect for the Hashemite custodianship of Jerusalem’s holy sites remains a key pillar for peace and regional stability.

Addressing global issues, Guo described China’s relationship with the United States as “crucial for global peace and stability,” noting that recent discussions at the APEC summit were “very fruitful” and signaled potential for enhanced cooperation.

“We can say that the world will be more stable and peaceful than before the meeting,” he said, expressing optimism that the talks would help support ongoing ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip. “While the first phase of the ceasefire has faced challenges, it is progressing steadily and will pave the way for the second phase. Through the collective efforts of the international community, including China and the United States, I look forward to long-term peace and stability in a turbulent world.”

The ambassador also highlighted China’s modernisation achievements and growing engagement with Jordan, emphasising the media’s role in strengthening mutual understanding.

“The media serves as a vital bridge to convey China’s voice and promote China-Jordan friendship,” he said.

Guo reviewed the outcomes of the 4th Plenary Session, held in Beijing from October 20 to 23, during which the CCP adopted the 15th Five-Year Plan for economic and social development.

The plan, he said, will provide strategic direction for China’s growth in the coming years.

“China is committed to building a strong nation and achieving national renaissance through Chinese-style modernization,” Guo said. “Our policies offer stability and certainty in an uncertain world.”

He highlighted China’s GDP growth, now exceeding 130 trillion yuan (about $18 trillion), and its leadership in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and new energy.

“China’s growth has contributed around 30 per cent to global economic development, transforming it from the world’s factory into a global hub for innovation.”

Guo reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to high-level openness and international trade, noting that China remains a top trading partner for more than 150 countries and regions, with global leadership in both imports and exports.

He also pointed to China’s trade reforms, which have eliminated restrictions on foreign access to its industries, granted zero tariffs for exports from least-developed partner countries, and established the Hainan Free Trade Port along with 22 other free trade zones.
