AMMAN — The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF), on Sunday sent a new humanitarian aid convoy to Syria.
The convoy, consisting of 16 trucks loaded with prefabricated housing units, medical supplies, and medicines, comes as part of Jordan’s continued efforts to support and assist the Syrian people, according to a JHCO statement.
Secretary-General of JHCO, Hussein Shibli, said the convoy, organised in cooperation with the Syrian government, includes ready-to-use prefabricated homes to provide safe shelter for families who lost their houses, in addition to medicines and essential medical equipment to meet urgent health needs in several areas.
He added that the aid was secured through partnerships with Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD), MedGlobal, and Hikma Pharmaceuticals–Jordan, and will be distributed by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent in Sweida Governorate and displacement centres in Daraa to those affected by the recent humanitarian crisis in Sweida.
Jordan, in cooperation with Qatar, dispatched a joint Arab humanitarian convoy to the neighbouring country on September 11, as part of a collective regional effort to assist the country in addressing the difficult conditions resulting from recent events in the governorate.
