In the government’s preparatory meeting for Ramadan, Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh stated that there are several government decisions to be taken aimed at mitigating the inflationary effects resulting from the Red Sea disruptions caused by the Yemen’s Houthis attacks towards “Israeli” or “Israeli-affiliated” ships.

Al-Khasawneh explained that these decisions include exempting goods from customs duties and allocating a financial sum from emergency expenses to enhance strategic reserves, among other measures.

Regarding the ongoing “Israeli” aggression against the Gaza Strip, he clarified that Jordan does not have any “factional biases” towards any party and stands with Palestine, all of Palestine, without bias towards any party.

Al-Khasawneh emphasized that regional stability and prospects for economic integration can only be achieved through the two-state solution.

Minister of Industry and Trade, Yusuf Al-Shamali, stated that there is stability in the prices of sugar, rice, and oils, except for the rise in meat prices from the country of origin and the increase in shipping and insurance costs.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Industry and Trade, the Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Government Communication, and representatives from commercial and industrial sectors including food, poultry, and meat.
