AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Wednesday received a phone call from French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné.

During the phone conversation, the two top diplomats discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire and a sustainable access to humanitarian aid across the war-torn Strip.

The ministers highlighted the deteriorating conditions in Gaza, exacerbated by the ongoing war against the Strip and Israel's restrictions on aid access, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Safadi emphasised that addressing the immediate needs of over two million Palestinians facing famine in the Strip necessitates not just an end to the aggression, but also the removal of all restrictions on aid entry and distribution. He further stressed the need to allow UN agencies to fulfil their humanitarian mandate.

Both ministers reaffirmed Jordan and France’s commitment to cooperate towards an immediate ceasefire and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, including through airdrops. They also underscored the necessity of opening all land crossings to meet the humanitarian needs of the Strip.

Safadi and Séjourné also reiterated that the implementation of the two-state solution, based on established references, remains the sole way to realise regional security and peace.
