Trade balance deficit decreases to JD1.962 billion in Q1 2024 — DoS

AMMAN — Jordan's trade balance deficit dropped 11.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2024 compared with the same period of last year, decreasing from JD2.22 billion to JD1.962 billion, the Department of Statistics (DoS) announced on Thursday.
 
The value of the Kingdom’s national exports reached JD1.769 billion in the first three months of 2024, marking a 14.8 per cent increase from the JD2.076 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2023, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
 
During the January-March period of 2024, the value of re-exports stood at JD193 million, marking a 34 per cent increase compared with the JD144 million recorded during the same period of 2023, the DoS added.
 
According to the DoS report, the trade balance deficit in the first quarter went up by 5.8 per cent compared with June 2023, reaching JD489 million.
 
Monthly figures showed that the Kingdom's total exports in March 2024 totalled JD738 million, marking a 6 per cent rise compared with the figure reported during the same month of 2023.
