Two Jordanians abducted in South Africa

Petra

Amman–– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said Saturday it was following up on reports that two Jordanian businessmen, a man and his son, were abducted in South Africa and their kidnappers had demanded a ransom for their release.

Ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah said that the ministry's Operations Centre and the Jordanian embassy in Pretoria have been closely monitoring the incident with the local authorities since the early morning hours.

Qudah said that the embassy had asked the South African Foreign Ministry to promptly, and through the competent agencies, to search for the abductees and secure their freedom as soon as possible.

He said the Jordanian ministry had formed a crisis task force working around the clock to deal with the incident and secure the release of the two men.
