AMMAN — Two Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) Black Hawk helicopters joined firefighting efforts on Thursday evening to contain “massive” wildfires sweeping through the SakibWedian Al Sham area in Jerash.
The fires have consumed vast swathes of forestland, prompting an urgent response from Civil Defence Directorate (CDD) teams, supported by various government institutions and agencies, according to a statement from the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF).
The helicopters assisted in containing the flames, especially in rugged terrain that has hindered access for wheeled and tracked CDD vehicles.
JAF reiterated its readiness to deploy its capabilities in support of national efforts to confront natural disasters and emergencies.
This mission, the army said, aligns with its ongoing commitment to supporting state institutions and reinforcing national security frameworks.
