AMMAN — The Political Parties Law does not authorise the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to interfere in parties' positions or internal affairs, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the IEC Musa Maaytah said on Sunday. Addressing a gathering that brought the commission's president and members, as well as the secretaries general of political parties, Maaytah stressed that any issues within the party's organisational structure should be dealt with internally. The IEC cannot intervene in internal party matters unless there is a clear violation of existing laws, he said, stressing the importance of providing the necessary support to political parties while maintaining a relationship characterised by transparency and impartiality.
