AMMAN — The death toll from the toxic chlorine gas leak at the Aqaba port has climbed to 13. More than 260 people were injured, and two critical cases were transferred to Amman on Tuesday, confirmed Minister of State for Media Affairs Faisal Shboul.
Shboul stated that around 130 people were still being treated in Aqaba hospitals, but some were discharged and instructed to return for a check-up.
Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh remains in Aqaba Governorate to follow up on the details of the incident, said Shboul, adding that a team headed by Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya, has begun investigating the incident.
The site of the leak has been “decontaminated”, added Shboul.
