AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Ahmad Huneiti on Thursday met in Ankara with Turkey’s Chief of the General Staff Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu to discuss enhancing military cooperation and regional security developments.
The two sides reviewed mechanisms for advancing cooperation in training, exchange of expertise and readiness, and stressed the importance of continued coordination in light of evolving security challenges in the region, according to a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) statement.
Huneiti held talks with Turkish Minister of Defence Yasar Guler on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, particularly in defence industries, technology transfer, joint manufacturing and capacity-building.
Discussions touched on expanding cooperation in research and development and benefiting from shared experience in defence manufacturing to enhance operational and technical performance.
During the visit, Huneiti also toured Turkish defence company ASELSAN and was briefed on advanced systems in electronics, command and control, radar and defence solutions.
He also met with Turkey’s Defence Industries Agency President Haluk Gorgun for talks on industrial cooperation, technology transfer and expanding partnership in defence sectors.
Huneiti said the meetings reflect the army’s keenness to develop sustainable partnerships that support defence capabilities, regional security and joint strategic interests.
The meetings were attended by senior Jordanian military officers, the Jordanian ambassador and the military attaché in Turkey.
