King receives calls from India, Pakistan PMs

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah received a phone call from India Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, during which they discussed ways to de-escalate tensions in the region.
 
The call addressed the need to mobilise international efforts and maintain coordination in order to achieve comprehensive de-escalation, thereby preventing the conflict from spreading further in the region, according to Royal Court statement.
 
His Majesty emphasised the importance of utilising dialogue and diplomatic channels to resolve the conflict and restore regional stability.
 
The King also expressed his condolences to the prime minister over the loss of Indian lives during the Iranian attacks on Arab countries.
 
Also on Thursday, His Majesty and Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif discussed the dangerous developments in the region during a phone call.
 
His Majesty underscored the need to put an end to Iranian aggression against Jordan and the countries of the region, and to rely on diplomacy to resolve the conflict and achieve a comprehensive de-escalation that would restore stability to the region, another Royal Court statement said.
 
The King expressed his condolences to Prime Minister Sharif over the loss of Pakistani lives during the Iranian attacks on Arab countries.
 
His Majesty also warned of the danger of the current developments being exploited to impact the situation in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza.
