Syria’s new Foreign Minister begins regional tour with visit to Qatar

Syria’s newly appointed Foreign Minister, Assad Al-Shaibani, arrived in Qatar today, Sunday, as part of an Arab tour that will include visits to several countries, including Jordan.
 
Al-Shaibani landed in the Qatari capital, Doha, accompanied by Defense Minister Marhaf Abu Qasra and General Intelligence Chief Anas Khattab, marking the delegation’s first official visit to discuss prospects for cooperation and coordination between the two nations.

Earlier, Al-Shaibani expressed his readiness to embark on official visits to three Arab countries, including Jordan, in the coming days.
 
In a post on the social media platform “X” on Friday, Al-Shaibani stated, “I will represent my country, Syria, in an official visit to our brothers in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.”
 
He added, “We look forward to these visits contributing to stability, security, economic recovery, and the establishment of distinguished partnerships.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, held a phone call with Al-Shaibani on Friday.
 
The two ministers discussed the latest developments in Syria and ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries to address challenges during Syria’s transitional phase.
 
They also agreed to organize a ministerial delegation’s visit to Jordan, covering military, security, and economic sectors. The visit, based on an official invitation from Safadi, will explore mechanisms for cooperation in areas such as security, borders, energy, transportation, water, and trade.
