Munich International Airport was briefly closed today as climate activists stormed the airport and glued themselves to two runways – German newspaper Die Welt reported.
One the runways is now open but some delays will occur, the airport’s spokesperson said.
The activists belong to the german climate movement “Last Group” and several of them have posted footage on “X” holding several signs in protest.
“The government is trivializing the issue instead of acting with integrity!” one of the protesters said.
"The government is [playing down] the situation and even subsidizing this whole madness further.”
“The question should not be: 'Am I going on holiday today?', the question should be: 'Do we want to survive?', because nothing less is at stake!" the movement added, as this is the busiest travel period for airports in southern Germany.
