Iraq: Jordan, Arab States’ security ‘integral’ to national security

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reaffirmed its firm rejection of any attack targeting Jordan, stressing that the security of the Hashemite Kingdom and other Arab states is “an integral part” of Iraq’s national security.

In a statement on Thursday, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the ministry said that the security of Jordan, the Gulf Arab states and all Arab countries is inseparable from Iraq’s own security, noting that regional stability represents a shared interest for all nations and peoples in the region.

The ministry also renewed Iraq’s commitment to a balanced foreign policy based on cooperation and mutual respect with countries in the region and beyond, emphasising the need for joint efforts to enhance security and stability, reduce tensions and prevent further escalation.

It added that Iraqi security agencies continue to coordinate closely with their counterparts in “brotherly and friendly” countries, expressing full readiness to receive any information or evidence related to attacks launched from Iraqi territory against neighboring states, and to address them swiftly and responsibly.

“Iraq remains in contact with regional partners to support initiatives aimed at ending the war and returning to diplomatic solutions and political dialogue, in a way that reduces harm to civilians and regional economies while promoting security and stability for all.”
