The Jordan Times

AMMAN — The Jordanian-Iraqi Industry Company, owned by the governments of Jordan and Iraq, has signed an agreement with the Coalition for Engineering Consultancy to provide consulting services for a joint economic estate to be established on the border between the two countries.

Under the agreement, the engineering consultancy body will offer its services in the following week to find a developer for the joint project, prepare the tender documents and handle all associated requirements.

Following the signing ceremony, the Jordanian-Iraqi Industry Company said that the project would “pave the way” to enhancing Jordanian-Iraqi economic integration in industry and other fields, according to a statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Products manufactured in the economic city could avail of the Kingdom’s free trade agreements with several countries, which provide access to one billion consumers without any technical or customs restrictions.

The two sides have allocated a 20,000-dunum plot for the project.
