AMMAN — HRH Princess Muna, President of the Jordanian Nursing Council, on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the School of Nursing Council at the University of Jordan (UJ).
Princess Muna was welcomed by University President Nathir Obeidat, Dean of the School of Nursing Areej Othman, and members of the school council.
During the meeting, Princess Muna emphasised the importance of preparing and qualifying nurses in elderly care, highlighting the need for academic programs to adapt to the evolving needs of the community.
The School of Nursing expressed its readiness to integrate these directives into specialised courses and curricula in the upcoming academic year.
Othman expressed appreciation for Princess Muna’s continued support of the nursing sector, particularly the School of Nursing, noting that her guidance has contributed to significant academic and research achievements over the past two years.
She highlighted the school’s rising global profile, including its inclusion in the Shanghai Ranking and its position among the world’s top 50 nursing schools in the QS World University Rankings.
Othman also noted a marked increase in published scientific research, expanded support for research initiatives, and the launch of student research clubs supervised by faculty members. Additionally, three faculty researchers have been recognised among the top 2 percent of researchers worldwide.
She reviewed ongoing efforts to enhance the school’s facilities as part of the University of Jordan’s infrastructure development project, including the recent opening of a new reading hall.
Othman highlighted that the school has renewed its international accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) through 2030 and secured national accreditation for an additional four years.
