MAP Jordan performs 300 free surgical procedures in 2025

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — The Jordan Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP Jordan) announced that it has successfully met its target of performing 300 free surgical procedures since the beginning of 2025, benefiting patients from refugee camps and the most underprivileged communities.

The initiative reflects MAP Jordan’s ongoing commitment to providing specialised healthcare services to patients unable to afford the cost of treatment, with the milestone coinciding with the association’s celebration of its 35th anniversary of delivering medical and humanitarian assistance, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The target was achieved through funds raised from a series of humanitarian campaigns, including the “Lighten Their Load” initiative during the holy month of Ramadan, the “Back to School” campaign, and the ongoing “Your Zakat is Their Cure” campaign.

The donations were used to support surgical procedures for patients in the camps where MAP Jordan operates, in response to the increasing demand for surgical services amid the challenging economic conditions faced by camp residents.

A child from Hittin Camp, who was experiencing severe pain, successfully underwent the 300th surgical operation, following an assessment by the centre’s specialist doctors and treatment in coordination with volunteer consultant Saeb Hammoudi.

MAP Jordan said that the child’s health is now stable, highlighting a humanitarian achievement that underscores the donors’ contributions and the local community’s longstanding confidence in the medical services provided by the association.

MAP Jordan stressed its dedication to delivering comprehensive healthcare, covering medical follow-up before, during, and after surgeries, to ensure patients’ well-being and the best possible health outcomes.

It also noted that demand for surgical procedures is on the rise, with many camp residents unable to cover the medical expenses, prompting the association to expand its healthcare programmes and raise the number of beneficiaries receiving surgeries to meet the growing humanitarian need.
