Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) has approved the resumption of flights from Jordan to Damascus International Airport, ending a 13-year suspension. The commission emphasized that all safety and security measures for passengers have been met.
Haitham Misto, head of the commission, told Roya that flights will operate during daylight hours only, citing limitations in Syria's nighttime air navigation systems.
The decision followed an assessment by a technical team confirming the airport's readiness for international flights.
Jordanian airlines will determine ticket prices and flight frequencies. With a one-way trip taking approximately 35 minutes, Misto anticipates high demand, given Jordan’s strategic position as a transit hub to other destinations.
