Jordan welcomes UN Security Council decision to lift sanctions on Syrian officials

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the recent decision by the UN Security Council to remove sanctions previously imposed on Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Interior Minister Anas Khattab.
 
The Ministry also expressed appreciation for the resolution’s affirmation of “full commitment to respecting the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and national unity of the Syrian Arab Republic,” as well as the continued international support for the Syrian people.
 
Official spokesperson Fouad Al-Majali highlighted the significance of the decision, describing it as a reflection of “the will of the international community seeking to support the unity, stability, sovereignty, and security of the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic.”
 
Majali also reiterated Jordan’s ongoing support for Syria’s reconstruction efforts, emphasizing that these initiatives should uphold principles guaranteeing the country’s unity, stability, and sovereignty while ensuring the safety of its lands and citizens. He concluded by stressing the importance of these efforts in preserving Syria’s security and combating terrorism.
