AMMAN — The number of Certificates of Origin issued by the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) for exports to Arab and international markets rose by 3.2 per cent during the first ten months of 2025 compared with the same period last year.

According to the chamber’s figures, 34,688 certificates were issued during the period, up from 33,615 in the same period of 2024.

However, the total value of the goods covered by the certificates fell by 6.5 per cent to JD 1.099 billion, compared with JD1.176 billion last year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Iraq topped the list of destination countries by certificate value, totaling around JD484 million across 2,902 certificates, followed by Saudi Arabia with JD93 million and 8,576 certificates, the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Egypt came next with JD78 million and 859 certificates, the UAE with JD69 million and 3,630 certificates and Syria with JD67 million and 2,962 certificates.

These five countries represent the largest destinations both in terms of value and number of certificates issued.

By product type, foreign-origin goods accounted for JD553 million, industrial products JD199 million, agricultural products JD157 million, Arab-origin goods JD95 million, with the remainder covering other categories.

A Certificate of Origin is a key document in international trade that verifies that the goods in a shipment were produced, manufactured, or processed in a particular country.

It is used by customs authorities to determine tariff eligibility and confirm the country of origin.

The ACC issues certificates for agricultural, animal, Jordanian raw materials, re-exported foreign goods and foreign goods purchased in the local market under specific conditions.

Industrial products are certified based on the request of the exporter, supported by the original factory invoice, certification from the relevant industrial chamber and an original Certificate of Origin confirming its Jordanian.
