“Matter of time”: Defense officials say “Israel” running out of interceptor missiles

The Pentagon has recently deployed the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system in “Israel”, operated by American troops; to shore up their ally’s defense systems in fears of an Iranian counter strike should “Israel” choose to retaliate.

Several defense industry executives, former military officials and analysts said that “Israel” is currently facing a shortage of interceptor missiles.

Former senior US defense official, Dana Stroul, said that the lack of air defense munitions is a “serious issue”, adding that if Iran and Hezbollah join forces in a coordinated attack, “Israeli” air defense systems will be stretched.

In a report published by the Financial Times, Stroul added the United States defense industry is finding it difficult to supply both Ukraine and “Israel” at the same time.

“We are reaching a tipping point,” she said.

Boaz Levy, CEO of “Israel” Aerospace Industries, which produces the exoatmospheric Arrow interceptor missiles used to shoot down ballistic missiles in the early October strike by Iran, told the Financial Times that their assembly lines are working 24/7 to produce the interceptor missiles and meet their obligations.

“It is no secret that we need to replenish stocks,” Levy said.

Former military officials and experts warned that “Israel” will soon have to prioritize which targets should be protected and prioritize where its interceptor missiles are deployed; as Hezbollah is not operating in its full capability yet.

“ [Hezbollah] has only been firing at around a tenth of its estimated prewar launching capacity, a few hundred rockets a day instead of as many as 2,000,” said Assaf Orion, the former head of strategy at the “Israeli” army.

“Some of that gap is a choice by Hezbollah not to go full out, and some of it is due to degradation by the IDF…But Hizbollah has enough left to mount a strong operation,” Orion warned.
